Cleaning interior windowsAs with cleaning exterior windows you need to be sure to clean the interior just as well and there are certain techniques you can use to ensure there are no streaks or smudges. Knowing the right technique is important but also having the right tools for the job is just as important.

There are plenty of tips and hints on how to clean your windows so they are as sparkling on the inside as they are on the out. Below are some tips on how to clean your windows on the interior properly and also what tools you should be using for each stage;

How sunlight effects window cleaning

You should be sure not to clean the windows in direct sunlight because this dries the cleaning solution too quickly and there fore causes streaking and smudges.

Squeegees

cleaning interior windowsIf you use professional squeegees then you will gain a much better final result, but knowing how to hold the squeegee is just as important as using the right tools. You need to hold the squeegee at an angle moving it from the top of the window to the bottom so any dripping cleaning solution doesn't drip down the clean window. As well as the direction in which you move the squeegee you need to be sure when you take each stroke you don't leave lines by doing the strokes too close together, you should slightly over lap each stroke as you move down the window. After you have taken each stroke you should wipe the squeegee dry with a clean, dry cloth so there are no drips.

Drying windows

After using the squeegee there will be water left around the edge of the pane so you should take a dry, lint free cloth and wipe around the whole edge of the window pane. The rest of the window should be dried when using the squeegee so you need not use the cloth for the larger section of window.

Cleaning solutions for windows

The solution you use on the window pane should be suitable for use and you should check that it wouldn't cause any damage to the window sill. This is especially in the case of wooden frames because if the solution contained chemicals that damage wood then you could ruin the finish on your window frame.

You should always be sure the tools and solutions you are using are suitable for use on your particular kind of window and frame. If you are un-sure check with the manufacturer before using it on your windows.
